A new partnership with the University of Maine will increase support for faculty and students seeking an opportunity to explore the effects of a changing climate across multiple ecosystems in Acadia National Park.
The College of Natural Sciences, Forestry, and Agriculture has created two new funding opportunities:
The Schoodic-Acadia Research Fund will expand Second Century Stewardship support for college faculty. Since 2016, eight of the 15 Second Century Stewardship fellowships have been awarded to scientists associated with the University of Maine, making the state’s land grant and sea grant institution an important partner in building relationships between researchers and Acadia National Park.
The Schoodic-Acadia Internship Fund will enable more college undergraduates to participate in research-based internships to our undergraduate students who are closely mentored by Institute staff. These professional development opportunities include housing and a stipend.
Support will expand these research and professional development opportunities while also improving understanding of environmental change and its impacts in Acadia.
